Joann Fabrics' Dumpster Drama: Why It Matters

They could have given a senior center or a Girl Scout Troop. My troop is sewing baby blankets for the Children’s Hospital and helping the women at the local Senior Center to sew blanket/coats for the homeless. The girls’s have learned how to cut out fabric according to patterns, sew the pieces together, sew buttons and zippers. It is amazing to see so many of the mothers bring in machines they inherited or purchased and they do not know how to use the machines. That is where our secret is ingredient comes to play! Our senior citizens know how to sew and really enjoy helping the girls one on one. Great opportunity to generate a real appreciation for senior adults in our community.

Some schools still have home ec classes. Also kids in 4-H sew. Donate to schools and let students who can use them have them. Give them to churches or libraries for people to take as needed.

Personally, I’m extremely tired of these money hungry companies/corporations of throwing away perfectly fine product. I’ve worked for way too many big name companies and will be more than happy to drop names, like Dunkin Donuts and Kroger. They’re so money hungry, while wasting product at the same time. Make it make sense.💯

What happened to the elderly Catholic Church women they use to make some beautiful quilts for the community of Stillwater Oklahoma ,they would have been glad to have that sewing material and the cloth to make quilts and aprons for the Knight's of Columbus. ,the ladies in Tucson Arizona gave away beautiful quilts to sisters houses women center.It is shocking for a business too close and throw away tons of sewing cloth wow unbelievable.

This country is known for unnecessary waste! Of course , item could have been donated

They advertised sewing machines on Facebook for really low prices; bought one but never received. Rip off. When it sounds too good to be true, it probably is false

give it to the homeless, but I know you have to do it through an organization or they'll be problems with littering, and who gets what, but on the other hand the organization will probably want to profit, so really no one wins, sucks

Stores try to sell what they can before the bankruptcy closing date. Then the inventory is sold to a discount distributor company that buys out stock from closing stores. Then the inventory then brings over what isn’t sold from other buy outs and they keep trying to sell everything. Once the lease is over it’s the discount distribution company that throws out what is left. It isn’t the bankruptcy company (in this case JoAnns).

Talk to the manufacture of products.

This really sucks.
