Big changes are coming to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as Delta Air Lines is switching commissary service providers. Nearly 400 Unifi Aviation contractors just found out their jobs will end next month, but here’s the twist: both Delta and Unifi say everyone will have a shot at new roles—either with the incoming company, Newrest, or elsewhere at the airport. This is Delta cutting expenses for their already record profits. Cut low earning contract employees and make them reinterview and start them at a lower wage for the same exact job with a new contract company.

My wife has to travel by wheelchair through airports. When the airlines controlled wheel chair access it was 100%. Now within the last 6 years it has been about a 60% show up and 40% no show. Same with baggage pickup. Complaints are met with excuses of staffing shortages or efforts to unionize. Definitely needs a change especially in Atlanta a major Delta Hub.

Delta appears to have lost trust from its stock holders and customers. They are apparently using AI for fare pricing, and according to recent publications they used Government supplied COVID funds to pay executive compensation to their senior officers. They were apparently fined over $200 million dollars. I assume they will charge this back to someone who may be purchasing fares on their worn out fleet of jets.

This practice is known as contract flipping. Sign a contract with a company for five years. Promise the employees that they will get a huge raise on their fifth year knowing that the company that outsourced the work is going to change vendors. The employees usually are denied unemployment benefits because the new company will offer them the same job they had, but with lower wages.

You guys are nutz! When you run a business, changes are constant as they are with all businesses! In case you forgot, the previous years have thrown a lot of businesses in the dumpster due to taxes, govmt rules & regs, cost of fuel that effects everything from chewing gum to airfare! You have choices in brands to buy including airlines.
