Every Thursday, a group of Des Moines neighbors in bright yellow jerseys load up bikes and cars with hundreds of fresh burritos, sandwiches, and supplies—not for profit, but to support unhoused and food-insecure folks across the city. The Urban Bicycle Food Ministry (UBFM) isn’t about preaching or pushing an agenda; it’s about radical hospitality and building real relationships. Volunteers—many of whom aren’t even church members—say the most powerful moments happen during deliveries, when a simple “Have you had supper tonight?” can mean everything. It’s amazing how much hope and connection can fit inside a foil-wrapped burrito. Would you join a group like this in your neighborhood? #Safety #DesMoines #CommunityCare
