New federal rules are about to make life a lot harder for thousands of New Mexicans with disabilities. Medicaid will soon require recipients to prove they’re working, volunteering, or in school for 80 hours a month—or risk losing their health coverage. For many with disabilities, it’s not the work that’s impossible, but the paperwork: regular reporting, documentation, and navigating confusing systems. Even those who qualify for exemptions could lose coverage just because they can’t keep up with the red tape. I had some trees needed cut and have a small garden spot. And my neighbor want that spot to bring his land on out to look even up his lines. He said he’d cut all the trees for that little spot. May have been worth 50.00??? And first ddi said yeah I could pay him with the land and just sent documents showing that’s what we did. Weather got warm and I said let me check since the new yr and laws could’ve changed. So sure enough if I had went ahead that would be counted as giving away an asset and my ssi would be cut off.
