Costco Checkout Hack You Need to Try

Our Costco stopped doing that and made you unload your carts again. We complained because it was easier for everyone. The cashiers were on our side. Lately it seems they are back to letting us do it again. Please turn your codes where they can scan easily. Don’t stack a bunch of stuff on top of each other! Please don’t spoil this convenience.

it doesn't matter if you put the barcode upright so they can just scan without handling it. Every time a employee or who ever helping the clerk will pick up the product and turn them around. Costco employees rather work harder and not smarter.

our Costco now has customer use hand scanners which speeds up self checkout... it's awesome!

I do this with as much as I can, then the helper comes and takes them out and throws them on the belt

Just let them know that all the UPC are showing when it is your turn, that seems to help and they are so grateful and they thank you.

Good thing they have computerized registers. A lot of cashiers can’t figure out how to make change.

First of the above ^ three comments is correct. Heavy items, which include the roly poly watermelons can, and should stay in the cart/ trolley/basket/flat. Various warehouses have various rules. Everything out of the cart vs small quantity of items can remain in the cart. Every cashier is different regarding the items in or out, just as some shoppers prefer that they don’t want their items being touched by us, they’re usually wearing a Covid mask. Personally, I ask if the shopper wants a box for their items. If the answer is Yes, everything except the aforementioned heavy items comes out to facilitate boxing. Some people don’t want a box and that’s their personal preference. I don’t have the expectation for someone to sort their items by cold/frozen, fruits/ veggies, detergents, etc. but it is a pleasant surprise, and is appreciated.
