It's not a matter of owing him anything. it's a matter of compassion for the father of her children. Sometimes in life, no matter how bad things get, you have to rise above it and see the bigger picture. It's called forgiveness. If we can't forgive, our Heavenly Father won't forgive us either. She's teaching her children an important lesson in life. When you come down to it, our opinion doesn't matter. I give her a lot of credit for rising up with love and compassion in a difficult situation.

My marriage crumbled after 28 years. We now have happily moved on to other partners. My ex husband provided a ton of help and support when my mother died and my dad moved into a nursing home. If he became very ill and needed me, I would be there for him. It’s called compassion.
