Roadtrip nightmare in 100 degree heat and now my engine looks cooked 🔥😅
Two hours into my drive home and my car completely gave out in the middle of nowhere. The check engine light started flashing and when I pulled over the engine was billowing smoke. I went to check the oil and the dipstick had actually MELTED. I had an oil change just three weeks ago 😱😱 Part of me is hoping it’s just a leak but my gut says it’s something much worse. Tow truck is on the way but I’m wondering what I might be walking into when I get to the shop. Has anyone dealt with something like this... I changed oil at the car dealer and when I left the car on the driveway for a couple of hours I saw big oil pool under the car. The dealer apologized and replaced the washer with a new one.

Could be that who ever changed the oil and filter forgot to put fresh oil on the black rubber ring on top of the filter. Always check what weight oil is used.

go to a reputable mechanic if you can't do an oil change yourself, those quick oil change places are not worth saving a little money when your car blows up

The garage probably answered this by now, but it sounds like your engine was running without oil. I could only guess the cause. When that happens the metal gets so hot that it actually melts the metal together. I bought a used TOYOTA and this happened to the previous owner and they were able to replace the engine with a low mileage used. Again, the garage will know.

This is a good need to know moment. Check your oil at least once a week on your older high mileage vehicles. Just because you had your oil changed a week ago doesn't mean you shouldn't check it. Not all oil change places are bad,but this person is gonna try and get a new car from them just because this person didnt check there own oil. Remember, your the captain of your ship and your responsible for it.
