Why Mental Hospitals Might Make a Comeback
Wild stat: in the 1950s, 560k people got long-term mental health care. Now? Less than 45k beds for a population twice as big. With homelessness and scary subway incidents on the rise, some are saying it’s time to bring back long-term psychiatric hospitals. I think if they are decent places not like the ones I had to go to then they'd be good. I'm not homeless but have been it's not a decent life. I'm on my meds and doing good but sometimes I do need a little extra help if my meds need adjustment. Jail doesn't help so I agree mental hospitals would be good if the doctors and staff care about doing the right thing and treating people with respect and vice versa

The bleeding heart liberals in this country are 100 % responsible for shutting these facilities down. mental illness isn't new and like it or not some people need 24 hour care and supervision because they are a danger to themselves and other when they arent receiving necessary care.

as a so called bleeding heart liberal not it is more humane to have safe psychiatric hospitals, homes for the mentally ill with house parents, Drs on site than letting them live in filth on the street
No one should live in those conditions
this experiment from the 80s to save money has not worked
