Those children do have fun with cousins, family, and normal pursuits. The ones you read about are above and beyond the average. It's a royal family with traditions.

Whatever happened to going to amusement parks, swimming, camping, sleepovers, etc. during summer vacations. These are activities that children should enjoy. Nature walks, pony rides, deer stalking, etc. are boring to children who are 12, 10, and seven whether they are royal or not. Once George, Charlotte and Louis find out that other children have "fun" during summer, wouldn't they be wondering why they can't have "fun".
