Walmart Checkout Chaos: Cart Abandonment Rising?

As a Walmart employee, I understand your frustration. I also don't understand why someone thinks it's ok to just abandon their cart because of long lines. The food in that cart now has to be separated, and nonparishable groceries put back on the shelves, frozen, and dairy products have to be marked out of stock because of being out of temperature and possibly unsafe to consume. All of this causes less stock. The time a staff member used to deal with all of that is time that could have been used to open another register. No one forces anyone to use self check out. Large orders should be scanned at a register with a cashier anyway. ALL registers have screens that show your merchandise as it scans. Pay attention as your merchandise is being rung up. There are mistakes and markdown items that maybe didn't get done properly. Thank you to all the customers who still shop at Walmart.

People who think they need to tell the cashier their life story or problems that hold up the check out lanes.

The store manager should monitor the customer load and add/remove cashiers as needed. That's why they're called M-A-N-A-G-E-R-S.

If I shop at Walmart I don't want to scan my stuff that's why the store hired CASHIERS and gave them a job..I think if there were more cashiers maybe the lines wouldn't be so long.

I'm glad I stopped shopping at Walmart 3 years ago. They are a crooked Democrat store. it used to be a great store.😲

Back when Sam Walton was alive you didnt have to wait in line. once any line was 4 deep they would open up another line , calling people from their departments to cashier. It worked great, so how hard would that be to do now ?

The person that thought self checkout would or could be made to work must have bern the dumbest of all the dumb people..

Walmart is a pain in the ass. from pallets of goods stacked at the end of aisle so you can't get around the 4 or 5 blue vest just standing there talking to all the blue carts in the middle of the aisle for people who are to lazy to shop for their own stuff. limited lanes open but plenty of blue vest to look over your shoulder while you scan your stuff and of course the receipt police at the front door. I do not feel bad for Walmart making billions every year and paying there people crap.

leaving your carts, or just abandoning them doesn't help the situation, it compounds the problem ! Don't be a fool ! It creates more work than needed for the cashiers, and slows them down, even more ! Let's ALL be a little more CONSIDERATE OF EACH OTHER, AND HELP SOLVE THE CART ABANDONMENT, AND MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY, INCLUDING THE CASHIERS !! HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY...!!😆👍👍💕💕

I've abandoned my cart once 3 employees standing at a check out just talking, but the check out wasn't open. Just 2 self check outs open Long line. Yelled screw this and left
