It’s not just about a logo change, it’s about a cultural shift. There IS such a thing as “Americana”. There is a longing for nostalgia amongst a vast majority of Americans, regardless of political views. That’s why we like classic automobiles, antique stores and road trips to historic places. Cracker Barrel is not,in and of itself, a “vintage” restaurant however, it did strive to offer diners a nostalgic atmosphere. In that effort it was overtly effective. That is what has so many people upset over the change. The rocking chairs and checkerboards may remain but the atmosphere will be gone. There is no denying that the changes being made at Cracker Barrel headquarters is a direct attempt to attract a newer clientele. All business do some sort of outreach to remain viable however, the successful way to do that is to convince people that what you offer is desirable to them. Changing who you are is not comforting to your current customer base. You lose more than you gain.
