Indiana’s prairies are alive again, thanks to a growing herd of bison at Kankakee Sands. Alyssa Nyberg, an alum of IU’s O’Neill School, has spent years restoring this 8,400-acre preserve, and the bison are making a real difference. Their grazing creates space for wildflowers and attracts all kinds of birds and insects, while their “bison wallows” collect rainwater for amphibians and other wildlife. It’s amazing to see a piece of Indiana’s history come back to life, and it’s all happening right in our backyard. How do you feel about bison roaming Indiana again? #Pets #Indiana #Bison
