I got 11 eggs instead of a dozen in my last grocery delivery. Not Walmart’s fault, but the egg company. So I got overcharged 1/12 of the price of the more expensive eggs they sell.

I placed 3 small apples on a scale at Walmart, and the scale reported it as a little over 2 pounds. Needless to say, I put them back.

I was shopping at a Meijer a few years ago and picked up a bag of mandarin oranges that was supposed to be 3 lbs, but seemed suspiciously light and small. Took it to their produce scale and weighed it and it was (as I suspected) only 2 pounds, as were all the other bags of them that day.

Walmart & Sam's use heavier container to hold the meat which adds to the weight you pay for ! Some are 6 ozs

I worked at Walmart in the meat department...the meat is prepackaged and priced before it gets to the store .

it's the responsibility of the debt of weights and measures to regularly test these scales, as well as the pumps at your gas station. my guess? they likely don't fine the stores, but demand the the scales be recalibrated. probably not like a regular dept. of health inspection, when they have a field day issuing numerous substantial fines. they never leave without laying it on thick and heavy. it's a racket. funny, cuz they are always more ruthless against the cleaner establishments than the hell holes.
