Auto Parts Stores Are Hitting a Pothole

Too many people are working at auto parts stores who don't know a damn thing about cars or materials used in the car repair business.

Online shops are killing them I can buy OEM and name brand parts online for half the cost

They hit the pothole when auto parts stores became corporatized and staffed by numbskulls who don’t know cars.

See this is the problem now days most parts people are not and have never been a mechanic before sure the store trains them how to check a battery and a check engine light but other then that they are brained washed on how they sale parts and they are the lowest paid skilled workers there are !! They have many jobs to do !! You have to a mechanic and a psychiatrist and a janitor and a computer expert and really nice and a good actor ! So when you go to parts store remember they are low paid and really disrespected people and some are don’t even have a clue !! Parts people aren’t the mechanic you people getting the parts are the mechanic and the parts person gets the part you looking for !! Most of these parts people never worked on a car in their life !! Now if you think that parts are so easy go to work in a parts store for a year and then come back and tell me what you think of the job !!

I walked into autozone, there was not a male employee in the store. They would not install a battery, and seemeed incapable of looking up brake parts.🤷‍♂️

Rock Auto is kick'n ass

Probably because Amazon and Rockauto have the same parts minus the brick and mortar 200% markup

looking under the hood of newer cars scars me. you can't change the spark plugs without removing a dozen parts. car dealers don't want you to be able to work on your own car.

the parts stores that are going under-advance auto parts come immediately to mind- are the stores that people started to avoid because of low quality parts and poor customer service caused by employee ignorance and bad attitudes. I've been with one particular store for over ten years now, they've got knowledgeable people and good service. the parts quality problem is everywhere now, so the consumer has to be careful about which brand they buy, but even that doesn't always work out. make sure your parts guy isn't just a number looker-upper, and whenever possible take the old part with you for comparison. the more you know and the more the salespeople know, the less likely you are to have problems
