🤔 As a man, I don’t think it’s from a lack of trying. I can only speak from my personal experience. Growing up, I went to schools that were racially integrated. Sistas that I’ve dated were never “down for me” like that. They were always the ones to end the relationship. I’m an intelligent and articulate individual. But as a black person, those qualities are often viewed as “talking white” or “acting white”. I used to find offense to this. Now I view it as a compliment. If being intelligent and articulate is considered “white”, what does that say about black people? Are we incapable of having these qualities?
