I like Elvis Presley version better .the song fits Elvis life at the time Priscilla left him .The song is Elvis song .probably last song Elvis sang was Willie's song Blue eyes crying in the rain the night he passed away .

Vocally, this was Elvis's song.
No offense to Willie, or his fans, I saw Willie live in about 2004,2005, something like that.
He's a genius writer, and has great presence, but as a vocalis, I always
found his voice...well, different.
On the other hand. Elvis didn't write songs, and couldn't read music.
But given the climate of the early 70's.and events in Elvis's life, it was his song, hands down. The styling, at the end. made the song poignant for me.
Just my opinion.
