I’m a 40-year-old full-time worker, paying taxes every month, sometimes working overtime just to cover bills. I see SNAP benefits being used to buy soda, chips, or sweets. I understand that everyone struggles, but I can’t help feeling frustrated: my tax dollars are meant to help those in need, yet some people seem to use the system for treats rather than necessities. It makes me question the balance of fairness. Should a program designed to alleviate hunger allow items with very low nutritional value? I don’t want to punish anyone, but I also want to know that my contributions are truly helping families survive, not fund cupcakes and soda. #SNAPLife #SNAPVoices
