As believers, God calls us to distance ourselves from ungodly influences and worldly corruption when it comes to following the crowd (Corinthians 6:17; Exodus 23:2; Proverbs 1:10-15; Matthew 7:13-14). The crowd might say: - Toe the line - Go with the flow - Don't rock the boat - Be mainstream, to name a few. Believers may follow the crowd to: - Feel part of something greater than themselves. - Gain acceptance from others. - Find validation for their feelings/thoughts. It’s crucial to remember that God’s word addresses our spiritual emotions, and following the majority should never outweigh obedience to Jesus (Romans 12:2). Jesus has prepared: A Place for Believers: In my Father’s house, there are many rooms; if that were not the case, would I have said I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will return and take you to be with me so that you may also be where I am (John 14:2-3). A Table for Believers: You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows (Psalm 23:5). A Path for Believers: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6). Strength for Believers: But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). Good Works for Believers: For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). Rewards for Believers: Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done (Revelation 22:12). Keep in mind: Conformity means doing what everyone else does, regardless of what is right. Morality means doing what is right, regardless of what everyone else does. Follow Christ, not the majority!
