Those red & blue election maps can be misleading. They show land area, not population. Rural regions (often Republican) cover lots of space but have few people, while cities (usually Democratic) are small on the map but packed with millions of voters. For example, Los Angeles County has over 10 million residents far more than the entire state of Wyoming. A population based map looks much more balanced politically. Geography doesn’t vote people do.
