A tiny bit of meat, fat, and onions make them delicious. Meat close to its "freeze by" date (it doesn't have expiration dates) is marked down super cheap because stores lack the freezer space. Take it home and prepare right away, or put it in the freezer. Shop early in the morning for the best markdowns. Sunday morning markdowns are pure gold.

I think what we are all missing here is the convenience of the junk food. You can take away certain name brand products however if someone wants to eat cookies you can make them. You want chips make them. So as you can see convenience is a key player here.
