Are You Ready For This Season? During the holiday season, many believers come together in their homes to celebrate with family, friends, neighbors, and guests. Most people start by cleaning: clearing out the old and welcoming the new, along with cooking. Some host big parties and gatherings, while others choose a simpler way. This makes me wonder, do we treat our relationship with Jesus like a holiday? Do we only seek Him during certain seasons? Or do we only ask Him to prepare our hearts for special occasions? If that’s the case, we need to reevaluate our relationship with Him. Remember that everything we have comes from the Lord, not from our own work (Romans 11:36). So, let’s submit ourselves to Jesus in every season of our lives. In Matthew 25:1-13, the parable of the ten virgins tells of ten bridesmaids waiting for a bridegroom who was late. Five were wise and brought extra oil for their lamps, while the other five were foolish and did not. When the bridegroom arrived at midnight, the foolish virgins found their lamps going out and were denied entry to the wedding feast because they had not prepared well. The parable concludes with a warning to "keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour" of the Lord's return (Matthew 24:36). So, as we get ready for the holidays to approach, let’s not forget the Lord (Psalm 103:2). It’s crucial to prioritize Him through prayer and seek His guidance regarding preparation over just prediction and planning. This should be our main focus as we prepare for the holidays. Believers, you must draw near to the Lord and He will draw near to you (James 4:8). Remember, Jesus is the only reason for all seasons!
