Shared: After singing a Hymn, they went out into the Garden of Olives... Matt. 26:30 Mrs. Cowman said: "It is not recorded that Jesus sang on the Mt of Transfiguration or while traveling into Jerusalem to the shouts of Hosanna. But just before they walked toward the dark Garden of Gethsemane to face His trial, it is recorded that He & His disciples sang a hymn. It was. Jesus' Song in the Night." Has He not likewise called back & given us songs in the night? We hum a tune when the sun is shining, the birds chirping. I am guilty of this. But that song that comes from the deep midnight of life bears the sweetest strains. How many of our hymns & gospel songs have come thus? Rev. E. P. Scott, missionary in India, met a native Indian tribesman in traditional costume. After earnest inquiry he discovered the native was from a ferocious mountain tribe. Feeling the need to share the Gospel with them, after much prayer, he set out with a few meager provisions and his violin. Soon, he found himself surrounded by warriors from that very tribe, spears pointed to his heart. Fearing this was the end, he pulled out his violin & began to play. Closing his eyes tightly, he sang ‘All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name’ in their native language. When he came to the stanza ‘Let ev’ry kindred, ev’ry tribe…’ he cautiously opened his eyes & was astonished to see the spears withdrawn & several of the warriors in tears! His way was opened! Oh, the power of singing Hymns in the night of trial! Martin Luther said, "When I cannot pray, I sing!" Start private/group prayer with a hymn. In Josh. 6, God demanded the trumpets blow, before the Jericho walls fell. God wants His praise! Ephes. 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms, hymns & spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. Exodus 15 Then sang Moses & the children of Israel this song unto the Lord.. Don't let the darkness choke your song. Enlighten it with a hymn!(this msg is to myself, just sharing.)
