Why does God hate divorce?⁉️ According to the KJV, Malachi 2:16 states, "For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously." This verse shows God hates "putting away" (divorce) because it is seen as an act of violence or treachery that breaks the covenant of marriage. God established marriage as a permanent, unifying union to be a spiritual picture of His relationship with His people and to raise godly offspring, and divorce damages this original, sacred design (Malachi 2:14-15; Matthew 19:4-6).
