Hundreds of thousands of people on SNAP do work and many people who are disabled did work for years paying into the system before an accident or health issue took them out of the workforce. what about their families who work and are paying into the system and don't use the assistance?? My mother is 77 years old and has a master's in special education. She has worked all her life and now because the cost of living is so out of control and her Social Security isn't enough even she gets some help with SNAP. Before you judge find out their stories.

Data from the U.S Department of Health and Human tells a different story. It shows us that fully 48% of those recieving SNAP remain on SNAP for 2yrs or longer. Sms days from the U.S Department of Agriculture shows us the following. Of the able bodied adults with children some 55% don't work and remain on SNAP and other welfare programs long term. And it's worse for the able bodied adults without children where 74% don't work and remain on SNAP and other welfare programs long term. We need to install rigorous accountability in these programs with time limits and get these programs back to being strictly a hand up and not a handout!

47% of Americans pay no taxes. NONE. So when you say they have been paying into the system is not true. Plus seniors who think the government should pay them more, just what was your retirement plan that counted on the government paying you during your retirement? Poor planning.
