John 8:32 “So Jesus said to those Jews, who had believed in Him, if you abide in My Word, hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them, you are truly My disciples. And you will know the Truth…”. Some say truth is relative, circumstantial, and perhaps individual, based on life experiences. It could even be said folks believe there’s ‘your truth’ and ‘my truth’ … but Jesus says there is one Truth, only one, and it has the power to set us free. He came first to the Jews, describing the kingdom of heaven, teaching about love and righteousness and grace. How is it that some believed and others did not? Jesus came speaking Truth and Light and Life… but the Proud, Arrogant and Self Righteous were unable to hear it. John writes “So the chief priests and Pharisees called a meeting of the council, the Sanhedrin, and said, What are we to do? For this Man performs many signs, evidences, miracles. If we let Him alone to go on like this, everyone will believe in Him and adhere to Him, and the Romans will come and suppress and destroy and take away our holy place, and our nation, our temple and city and our civil organization”. What would be the problem if they received the One they’d been waiting for if not the loss of power, authority and riches? These ‘holy’ men saw and heard and rejected Truth for personal reasons. Who was it that was able to hear and be glad for the Truth if not the humble in spirit, the lost, those whose hearts pressed in to His? Those who knew there was more…? Are we ready to be set free by His Truth? Ready to get rid of social prejudices, putting down our gavel of judgment and taking up the cross? How about getting rid of Lies the enemy says over us and taking hold of the truth of what God says… about us? Are we ready to have Him search our heart and reveal to us any lies and deceits we believe to be true? Are we ready to be free? Lord, we look past the flesh and see the spirit, the freedom You offer in Christ. Lord, we ask You to look in
