Why are both parents not equally responsible for the financial support of their children? I feel they should be. The issue I have with the way child support is calculated is that often the majority of financial support falls on the parent that makes the most income. If both parents have 50/50 custody, then they should share 50/50 financial support. Otherwise one parent actually ends up financially support the children while the other parent has custody of the children. Shouldn’t both parents equally financially support the children when in their custody? It’s not right that only one parent be financially held responsible for a child they both brought into world.

When I first became a single dad , the law of the land in divorce was 1. joint legal custody.2 both parents financially responsible.3.mom got physical custody.4.dad paid child support however if Dad got physical custody, then Mom would be required to pay child support . Because divorce has a deeply sad impact on the hearts and minds of kids , my #1 advice to moms and dads is don't speak badly about each other in front of the kids as is humanly possible .

i es ordered to pay 125 a week on two kids one i was un aware of al Together he was two abrigamos mine TV second was not mine i was denied a court ordered paternity and told if i didn't sign the paternity work out proof i would go to jail for three years second kids isn't mine but for thirty plus years now They still take child support i feel that country should owe me my 50 000 plus for screwing with my entire life

Exactly, well said. Words on paper about how much a parent should financially should enforce a child are just that...words. Time, attention, dealing with the needs of a child there is no amount of money that covers it. So even if you have a 50/50 shared custody split when the child is with that parent they are doing more. Also there are 7 days in a week. How many people really have their kids 3 1/2 days? Also you can't make a parent come visit and be a part of a child's life as was said. It's about the children and so many times it seems they are getting shorted because parents can't work together for their benefit financially or emotionally 😕

They should be, but there are times the woman takes the child and won't let dad interact with the child. In that case he should not have to pay a dime!

I agree but it's rare its 50/50. My husband had 50/50 but paid a lot in child support. I had 80/20 with my kids, me having them 80% and got very little. Also my ex never took them even though we had a parenting plan. I didn't receive more because of that. Nobody can make a parent take their children.

My son is the stable responsible parent. The judge has given him temp custody until they go to court this month. His lawyer says there's no chance she'll get them. It's sad for the kids, but she's unstable.
