I’m a volunteer at a local food bank in our area at the Christian church. In my experience almost 85% of people coming to get food and rent, electric utilities and water bills etc., are frequently coming in every two months for some of them 10 years already! I thought food banks are for emergency situations and temporary relief?, what I am seeing is that people are coming and behaving with entitlement and not looking for work! They are demanding, and all types of help whilst showing up driving BMW, and luxury cars and mostly acting as if the system owes them sorry! Though Not everyone is what I described above, people who have mental health issues also falls into this category.

My dad volunteered at the local food bank and said you would not believe the complaints he heard about the selection and not having all name brands.

She absolutely has a point. I’ve seen it. Even at the beginning of a school year when churches donate school supplies and new clothes the baby mammas show up and go through the line 3 or 4 times and then put the stuff on eBay immediately. It’s very hard to get people (most of them aren’t well-to-do) to continue to donate when the same people always show up and are basically thieves.

This may not sound like a Christian, but what they’re experiencing is called generational. Why would you go to work and get a job if you can get state and federal aid programs and work churches and food banks. Everything‘s provided for you. All you have to do is just sit back and relax.

I also helped my church with a local food bank and yes many.drove much newer cars than my old 1998 dodge guess if you can get several hundred dollars in groceries every couple weeks that makes for a nice car payment.

So sad that many people take advantage of these programs. What once was appreciated is now expected. There are people in need for sure and others that are a drain on society that ruin it for others. It’s not judgmental to state facts. Thank you for volunteering!

I believe this to be true. Many people DO need help but there are those who take advantage of the system and anything free. Disability benefits is a big one. Speaking out does not mean you are not a Christian it means you see the issues.
