The police continued to not believe her mostly because it was inconvenient in my opinion, after she realized that noone is going to help her and was called a liar even by her own attorney her PTSD took over and she couldn't barely function. THEY MADE HER STAY IN A CELL BY HERSELF FOR ALMOST A YEAR!!! What she endured behind bars, and the devastating incident involving Reality Winner that changed the entire course of her life. But every time she tried to put words on a page, the trauma shattered her. She couldn’t write more than a few lines before breaking down so deeply she could barely function. It took years for her to find the strength to try again. She was devastatingly afraid of the Government hurting her for speaking out about what really happened as much as she was her tormentors that threatened her into doing what she did. Even now, as she finally pushed through and completed her full story, the trauma has taken a physical toll on her body. I’ve watched her struggle to breathe as the memories flood back. I’ve seen the nightmares return... the screams in the middle of the night, the panic, the shaking, the flashbacks that pull her straight back into the moments she has fought so hard to escape.
