Knowing even a little bit of history will show that from a political policy standpoint what was the Democratic party of yesteryear is now the Republican party of today and vis versa. The ideals of both parties have essentially and completely switched over the years since when they were originally founded. So if you are against the Democratic KKK ideology of the past you must be aghast at the racist policies of the present day Republican party.
