Finding out Zooey Deschanel wasn’t the first pick for Jovie in Elf totally blew my mind. Apparently, Katie Holmes was originally cast, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. Zooey only got the part after that—and she wasn’t even nervous at her audition because she thought it was already taken! Can you imagine anyone else singing in that iconic bathroom scene?
