One thing that helped me stretch my SNAP benefits was ...that I don't get any benefits. Let me give you ...a slighted version of my backstory as it pertains to SNAP. I am college graduated, no children, no spouse, no disability, and according to Missouri's FDS...no reason I can't work. Absolutely agreed. There is one small detail , and one large disabling factor that is overlooked. I'm a convicted felon with a gun charge stemming from a concession of bad decisions that I stupidly made in efforts to "deal" with a life altering event in 2013 that I didn't have have the coping skills to deal with. So let's go back to SNAP. I am not at all upset that I don't qualify. Even tho I am in between jobs, and my side hustle only barely...and I mean barely covers my rent and utilities, and more than a few times I've had the shutoff notices or awoke to begin brushing my teeth only to discover...no aqua. "Love it". That's what I scribbled on my bathroom mirror as positive self -afirmation. So I can remind myself, it's hard for a lot of people these days, not just me. Now I don't have much to add in way of stretching the SNAP dollar, but I don't have stocked cupboards or anything. I cook for one, nothing pre-processed. That's junk. I need food that is high in protein, filling, and will provide left -overs for the next meal. Thank the Maker it's winter and stews and chilli season. I eat a lot of Beans, wild rice, no corn unless it's in corn starch form and integrated with other ingredients. Corn is not good for the human G.I. tract. It's also not good for domestic pets, yet you'd be surprised how much of it they put in pet food. It really has very little nutric value. Being just one ( myself) to worry about when it comes to having enough food...I'm predicably...not. This is probably not a view shared by many but as I said, it's party of one. So I don't hate on those who receive SNAP. I won't be rubbernecking your cart. Just be thankful. Peace out ✌️ #SNAPStretchStories
