Starting March 2, DTE Energy customers in Detroit will see a $2.99 fee added to every credit or debit card bill payment. For businesses, it’s even higher at $9.99 per transaction. There’s also a cap: residential payments max out at $2,000, commercial at $5,000 per transaction. DTE says these fees go straight to the payment processor, not their pockets, aiming to keep costs fair for everyone.
