Spirit Airlines is officially leaving Rochester, and that’s going to shake up travel plans for a lot of us who counted on their budget flights. The last Spirit flight takes off Wednesday, marking the end of their three-year run at Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport. But there’s a silver lining: Southwest is stepping up with daily nonstops to Orlando starting in January, and Avelo is adding more Florida options.
