Bald eagles are making a major comeback across Ohio—spotters counted over 700 of these majestic birds during the recent mid-winter survey. That’s a huge leap from just four nesting pairs back in 1979! Delaware and Franklin counties led the state in sightings, but you can spot eagles near rivers and wetlands all over. The count was a bit lower this year, partly because the survey relied on everyday folks instead of biologists in planes. Still, it’s wild to see how conservation efforts have paid off.
