True, & mailmen get bitten more by black Labs than any other breed because there are more black Labs than any other breed. we had a very gentle black Lab in Oregon who HATED our mailman wearing a uniform! Had to chain him up when we saw the mailman coming! The same dog let our cat & her kittens sleep on & around him on cold nights in the back enclosed porch in winter in Bend, Oregon. He fought off a rattler & disappeared for 3 days , returned with mud all over him & wide snake bites on his chest & neck. Dad said he must have laid down in the big irrigation ditch to let the mud pull the poison out. He was real tired for a few days, too!
