Luke 1: 45-46 “For He has looked upon the low station and humiliation of His handmaiden….” The promise had not become a reality but yet Mary knew the One Who Promised to be Faithful and True. We didn’t hear her ask “Why me…”, or complain about God’s timing…“let’s wait until I get married’. Mary’s deep faith, her surrender to His will and acceptance of His plan may have us searching for that power of Humility came from. The Humility that replaced Fear and Anxiety with spirits of Joy and Peace. It was as if she had stood in His throne room before He opened the doors. She prays… ‘My soul, magnifies and extols the Lord!’ the condition of her heart was ready to do what He asked of her. She offered no excuses and didn’t list any fears. She accepted His will for her life without hesitation, without remorse. Her acknowledgment of the blessing she had been given resulted in unrehearsed, spontaneous humility and enthusiastic praise. What was our response when we received Him into our heart? Perhaps we experienced a joy and peace like never before. Would we like to know that again? Is it possible? What is our response when he asks us to do something… Different? What is possible is to approach His throne of Grace with unrehearsed humility and spontaneous joy and peace. Once again, we understand the power and the strength of His Grace from the vantage point of a believer. At the beginning of our journey with Him, it was like stepping into the great unknown, trusting and believing in Him. Seasoned Believers may suffer some measure of apathy, a distance from God or powerless as a disciple. It’s at the foot of the cross we find ourselves in unrehearsed humility. Praising Him for all He’s done and for all He’s doing and will do. Refresh us, renew us, help us ‘dust off’ the part of us that spontaneously praises You and rejoices before You in all Your Glory... remind us of what
