Ecclesiastes 12:13 Solomon sums up his preaching… “The end of the matter is: Fear God and keep His commandments…”. Fear, not as in trembling or dread, rather Fear as in referent worship and awe. Solomon has the key to the purpose of creation…it’s the whole of man… we are the purpose and the object of God’s providence. It’s the answer to ‘who am I that He is mindful of me‘? In the Wisdom given to him by God, Solomon preaches the whole of man includes our character and is the root of happiness… all happiness. It’s who we are, in our heart that’s important. What we do, how we live our lives is a product of our heart. Solomon‘s reference to ‘all inharmonious circumstances and conditions under the sun’ begs us to stop and consider carefully what he’s saying… What we need to know. Solomon’s words… God’s Wisdom is timeless. Every generation, from the very beginning has faced division, animosity, anger, and hatred between races, nations … and simply put-differences in opinion. Factions and disunity isn’t honoring God, His purpose is we learn to Love each other like He does, despite our differences. It’s harmony, instead division. Solomon plainly states this is the duty of all men. Does our character line up with who God created us to be? Lord, change our hearts, refine us. Our desire is, when You pull what was once unrefined silver, out of the vat, all the impurities would be purged, drawn out. When You ‘rub Your sleeve’ across it, would You see Your reflection in us. We have much to learn from Solomon in our desire to live our lives knowing God and worshiping Him only.
