🚨 TRIAL BEGINS FOR AMISH MOTHER ACCUSED OF DROWNING 4-YEAR-OLD SON AT ATWOOD LAKE Ruth Miller begins this week in Tuscarawas County. Prosecutors say the 40-year-old Millersburg mother drowned her 4-year-old son, Vincen, at Atwood Lake last August, then drove a golf cart into the water with her three other children inside. The older children escaped. Miller was pulled from the lake. Body-cam footage captured Miller making disturbing statements, including, “I threw him in the lake and I gave him to God.” Dive teams later recovered the bodies of Vincen and her husband, Marcus Miller. Investigators previously described the couple as experiencing what they called “spiritual delusion.” Miller has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Her attorney says three psychiatric evaluations concluded she was unable to appreciate the wrongfulness of her actions that day. A judge — not a jury — will decide whether she is guilty, not guilty, or not guilty by reason of insanity. If found NGRI, a separate hearing would determine treatment and placement.
