I too had this experience I rescued a American staff puppy left in the middle of the road at about a month old he was afraid of everything when we received him he wouldn’t move or eat but after constant attention and living he began to relax now we can’t go any where with out him wanting to come and we have little grandbabies and he is so protective of them never once snapped growled at all now he has to sleep with me and never a inch away from me it’s a sign he finally feels safe and he don’t know it but he saved my life .. after losing my old dog I was lost sad and depressed it was like losing my parents all over again but he came and filled that hole and I can’t be happier
