My mind is blown. Iβve worn a cross necklace my whole life. Iβve seen all the movies where Jesus carries the entire cross up the hill. But I just read a historical breakdown of Roman crucifixions. They only carried the "patibulum" (the horizontal beam), which weighed like 100 pounds, while their arms were tied to it. The vertical post was already in the ground waiting for them. Why does knowing the raw, ugly, non-Hollywood reality of this make His sacrifice feel even heavier? The church sanitizes the cross too much. ππ©Έ
