Restoring holiness in the temple! In Matthew 21:12-17, Jesus entered the temple in Jerusalem and began to drive out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves, insisting that no one should carry goods through the temple. He declared that the temple should be a house of prayer for all nations, but instead, it had become a den of robbers. The chief priests and scribes, disturbed by his actions and the crowd's interest in his teachings, plotted to eliminate him. As night fell, Jesus and his disciples departed the city. Imagine the effort put into crafting a sanctuary that embodies safety and peace, a space meant for prayer, reflection, and worship, only to find it has been overrun by looters. How would you respond? This scenario helps us understand Jesus' justified anger in the temple. When chaos and disrespect infiltrate our sacred spaces, it creates an opening for the enemy to establish a presence in our lives. This serves as a stark reminder of our responsibility to honor the Lord in all facets of our existence. As we look to tomorrow, let us earnestly seek the Lord's guidance to purify our hearts, preparing ourselves to embrace the blessings He has for us and our homes during Holy Week.
