I asked a doctor about Luke 22:44 (and my mind is blown) I always assumed "sweating drops of blood' was just a dramatic figure of speech written by Luke to show Jesus was stressed. But 1 looked into the medical side of it. Luke was a physician, and he was describing a very real, rare clinical condition called Hematidrosis. It only occurs under states of unimaginable, extreme psvchological terror. The capillaries around the sweat qlands actually burst under the anxiety Jesus wasn't just nervous. He was feeling the crushing weight of the sins of the world and His impending physical torture. He felt the panic. He felt the dread Knowing the physical toll His anxiety took makes His sacrifice so much more real to me.
