Acts 10:23 “But in every nation he who venerates and has reverential fear for God, treating Him with worshipful obedience and living uprightly, is acceptable to Him and sure of being received and welcomed by Him”. Peter’s revelation… God’s grace, extending to everyone who believes, not just the Jews, came by way of ‘puzzle pieces’ coming together to form a perfect truth. A Gentile‘s prayer offered in worship, and his obedience, was favored by God through a vision. One that would lead him face-to-face with Christ’s disciple, Peter, oh no has full understanding “…that God shows no partiality and is no respecter of persons.” In all humility, do we fall to the floor, thanking Him for His grace and mercy? Are we grateful for our adoption as sons and daughters of the Most High King? If so, what does our ‘being grateful’ look like? Obedience is the same for everyone, it just looks different as each of us has a unique purpose. One that may change as we age but still powerful as we do things His way. Scripture has it that Peter’s revelation, as heard by Jewish believers that came with him, witnessed an outpouring of the Holy Spirit largely on the Gentiles… everyone who heard Peter’s testimony, the ‘veil coming down’ between men and God. They heard a man who believes and trusts in God receives forgiveness of sins, in the name of Jesus. Such power…in His name. God’s original plan wasn’t filled with detours when one part of it didn’t work, when men chose their own way. His grace and forgiveness was the plan all along, not just for one person or one nation, but for all people, all nations. Paul states in Romans there has been a partial hardening of the hearts of Israel until the last Gentile says ‘I do’ to Jesus. We all know someone that needs Jesus. Lord, we lift up our voices as one praying for the lost, the ones we know and the ones we don’t. Would You soften their hearts and cause them to hear Your message of love and grace and forgiveness…
