…the harvest is plentiful, the workers are few. So, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out (Greek: ekballo: To cast out, to drive out, to send out, to expel) laborers into His harvest. At first glance, it appears the ‘workers’ might be unwilling, perhaps ill equipped in their heart for what they’ve been ‘driven out’ to do. Perhaps, encouraging them to get out of their comfort zone might ‘feel’ less harsh but no less a picture of what is yet to be done and who’s being called to do it. ‘Mission minded’ believers… consider this, Hebrews 13:13 “But continually encourage one another every day, as long as it is called “Today”, and there is an opportunity, so that none of you will be hardened into settled rebellion by the deceitfulness of sin its cleverness, delusive glamour, and sophistication”. What is the passion of the laborer if not to be a living example and teacher of the gospel of grace? ‘Baby’ Christians, even those who aren’t new to the faith, those who’ve never heard, or understood what Jesus is to them or those who are settled into rebellion, the deceitfulness of sin… we all receive priceless truth from His anointed laborers. Who are the laborers? In his letter to the Corinthians, Paul describes the body of Christ is being made up of many gifted people, united as one. Are we waiting for those gifted with prophecy, preachers, and teachers to do all the labor? Or is what we’re being ‘fed’ an encouragement to ‘go, making disciples of all nations’? We don’t have to go to Africa to find the harvest, we don’t even have to be an organized team to share what we know about the Hope we have in Him. Is our heart like Isaiah‘s? His vision took him to God‘s throne room. When They asked who will go for Us, Isaiah replies “Here am I, Lord, send me”. Lord, help us to step out of our comfort zone, following Your lead, carrying Your words, Your message into the ‘field’ You’ve already prepared for us. Strengthen us, give us courage and boldness and wisdom to share the Hope
