Even the Apostle Peter cared too much about what the "religious elite" thought I used to put the early apostles on such a pedestal, thinking they were flawless super-Christians who never did anything wrong. Then I reread Galatians 2 today. Peter was happily eating with the Gentile believers. But the second the strict, religious Jewish leaders (James' crew showed up, Peter got scared of their judgment and backed away, pretending he didn't associate with the "outsiders." Paul was so furious that he confrontec Peter in front of everyone and called him a hypocrite. It blew mu mind. Even the man who walked on water struggled with the fear of man and church politics. How often do we change our behavior toimpress the "religious cool kids" at church?
