The modern church is obsessed with looking generous, but Acts 5 is absolutely terrifying 😳

I get so tired of seeing people in church essentially advertising how much they give or how much they volunteer. It feels like a holy popularity contest. I was rereading the story of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5. They sold some land and gave the money to the apostles. It looked amazing on the outside! But they secretly kept some of the money while pretending they gave it all. They weren't punished for holding back money; they were struck dead instantly for lying to the Holy Spirit to look more spiritual than they actually were. We always say we want the power of the early New Testament church. But I don't think we could handle the absolute, terrifying purity of it. And I can't stand how some churches have become more of a business than a church! Or the ones that tell you that the more you give, the more blessed you will be. The amount that you're blessed is the amount of blessings that you count! I'm pretty much a poor man. I have pain 24/7 because of 3 fractures in my back. I have osteoporosis, osteopenia, bone spurs in my neck, and all kinds of hardware in my left hip from breaking it in 3 places. But there's not enough time to actually count all of my blessings because God keeps on blessing me by the second! From the moment I open my eyes it's blessing after blessing. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I even thank God for the chance to feel the pain! For without God there would be nothing, NOTHING AT ALL!!! I'm sorry, I went off track. Just keep loving and praising God everybody, and may God bless you and yours!!! 🙏💖😁💖🙏

Amen🙏🏼! God is literally truth. He hates lies and when people think they can buy their way into heaven, or when they choose to hide their sins and misdeeds behind the cross. Jesus literally referred to those kinds of people as antichrists.
