Do dogs feel the loss of a companion? Of course they do, and it’s so profound, almost on a level that we as humans can understand. Chewbacca passed suddenly from unknown circumstances, his sister/wife/girlfriend showed me the depth of her loss. As we were preparing Chewbacca for burial, Luna started “nosing” him to play, and then promptly ate the flowers his owner had gathered. Upon burial, she climbed into the hole with his coffin. She continues to walk around barking for him, looking so sad. She hurts like the rest of us.
