What can I learn from fear? Proverbs 9:10 Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. A healthy fear of God leads us to respect his Word and his way—the foundation of all wisdom. Deuteronomy 31:7-8 Then Moses called for Joshua, and as all Israel watched, he said to him, “Be strong and courageous! . . Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Joshua 1:9 “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Fear can be good if it teaches us about courage. Joshua couldn’t have truly understood courage if he hadn’t experienced fear. Fear grew his courageous character and taught him to rely on and trust in God.
