Unless youβve dealt with severe depression, itβs hard to explain to people that it isn't just "sadness." Itβs an actual, suffocating physical weight on your chest. I was reading Exodus 10 today about the 9th plague in Egypt. God didn't just block out the sun like an eclipse. The text literally describes it as "a darkness that can be felt." For three days, the Egyptians couldn't even leave their beds because the darkness was so dense and physically oppressive. That is exactly what a depressive episode feels like. A darkness you can literally feel. It brings me an odd sense of comfort knowing the Bible acknowledges that kind of suffocating, heavy dark. If you are sitting in a darkness that feels heavy today, God sees you in the pitch black. #MentalHealth #ChristianDepression #Exodus #Darkness #HeSeesYou
