Psalm 121:2 “I will lift up my eyes to the hills – From whence shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord…“. Our Surrender to His Sovereignty, our Trust, our obedience…His power…His promise of blessing… all wrapped up, nicely, in these 2 verses. This, a song of Ascents, was a song to be sung by the children of God as they traveled to Jerusalem for the feasts. Songs preparing their hearts and minds… and souls for the celebration they would bring to the Lord. It goes on, acknowledging God as their Keeper, reminding them He doesn’t sleep. Reminding them, it’s God Who keeps them from evil, that He’s the One Who keeps their life and their comings and goings from now to forever. This is the God who doesn’t change, the God who keeps His promises. His name is True, Trustworthy, Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent. The God Who planned from the beginning to choose a people for Himself. He is the God who broke covenant with Abraham, revealing the people of the Earth would be blessed through him, not just his descendants, but all nations. First to the Jew and then to the Gentile, and now we all know, trust, believe in, rely on… press in to the One who helps us. How does He help? He leads us on paths of righteousness, He restores our soul, He prepares Goodness and Mercy…laying them out new and fresh for us every day. Our spirit dances, rejoices in doing right, it’s our desire to be in right standing with the Lord. We know He holds our lives in His hands. He has a place prepared for us, to be where He is. We lift our hands up to You, Lord, You’re ready to help in our time of need, You’re with us every step of the way…we desperately need You every hour. To You be the glory and the honor forever and ever.
